THE news that East Gippsland Rainforest CMN had helped secure $400,000 from the Australian Government gave members something to celebrate at the annual general meeting late last year.

continued development • of website;
local launch of the state • wide ‘Strategic Plan for Conservation Management Networks in Victoria’;
commencement of the • EGRCMN Strategic Plan;
Deer Management • Workshop & follow up field days,
Networking and • consultation with key stakeholders, (including Gippsland Plains CMN, East Gippsland Shire councillors and executive staff, Landcare and DSE.

Bill was the guest speaker at the launch of the state launch of the ‘Strategic Plan for Conservation Management Networks in Victoria". Wyanga Park Winery was chosen as the location for the launch because the rainforest restoration between the winery and their neighbours has been a great partnership between East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority, the Rainforest CMN, North Arm/Colquhoun Landcare Group, Trust for Nature and the two private landholders who ‘share’ the gully.

We will include a full feature on the restoration project in a forthcoming issue.

Honorary membership awarded to Lake Tyers work crew

Participants in the East Gippsland Rainforest CMN’s Rainforest Restoration and Indigenous Training Project are to be offered honorary membership of the CMN, it was decided at the group’s annual general meeting in November.

The training project, which we featured in our last edition, involved the employment of an Indigenous Work Crew from Lake Tyers who undertook long term restoration activities at EGRCMN rainforest sites, whilst at the same time fulfilling learning outcomes required in gaining their Certificates in Natural Resource Management.
