Here summarise the sites which have received funds for 2009 from the Australian Government’s Caring For Our Country open grant secured by the East Gippsland Rainforest and Gippsland Plains CMNs and Trust for Nature.
These projects are supported by the CMNs and each land manager through funding from the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country.Caring for our Country is an initiative that seeks to achieve an environment that is healthy, better protected, well managed and resilient, and provides essential ecosystem services in a changing climate.

PROJECT SUMMARY
PROPERTY MANAGER: TRUST FOR NATUREPROPERTY:
FRAIR RESERVE, BENGWORDEN

Community:
Plains Grassy Woodland
Status
: Critically endangered in Australia, endangered in Victoria
Species:
Dwarf Kerrawang (Rulingia prostrata)
Status: endangered in Australia

Funded action:
3.2 km of fencing and Burgan control in the wetland area (photographed above by Brett Mills).
PROPERTY: STRATFORD RESERVE, STRATFORD

Community:
Gippsland Plains Grassy Woodland and Associated Native Grassland
Status
: Critically endangered in Australia, endangered in Victoria
Species:
Purple Diuris (Diuris punctata)
Status:
vulnerable in Victoria
Funded action:
ecological burning and grassland restoration.Funded works on Trust for Nature’s Paisley Park are featured on page 3 of this newsletter. Trust for Nature also received funds to provide incentives for landholders wishing to covenant.

Species: Jungle Grape, Yellow-wood, Yellow Milkvine, Jointed Misteletoe 
Status: vulnerable in Australia
Funded actions: deer management, weed control, re-instatement of creek, in-fill planting
