Our landcare group has been working on regenerating rainforest for the last several years, but, have neglected the simplest approach - spread the seed and allow nature to do the rest. The fruit on our Lillypilly are starting to develop, so it is time to start watching for it to ripen.
Watch the fruit as it ripens on the lillypilly

When the birds start to knock it down spread a blanket or tarp on the ground and knock the fruit onto it with a stick.

Soak the fruit in a bucket of water for about a week, (it may well start to ferment).

Drain off the water and wait for the fruit to sprout.

Fling the sprouts into areas like dead blackberry or disturbed ground.

Plants prefer partial or light shade, they are palatable so best hidden

Thanks to Ned Ricard of Snowy River Riparian for the suggestion. Bill Peel for growing requirements.
(Ensure that you have appropriate permissions before collecting any plant material)
